Three producers — in New York, Washington and Toronto — aim to offer the show, “Blindness,” for socially distanced, masked audience members.
Today marks the official start of autumn 2020, and if the COVID-19 pandemic had not pressed pause on human activities six months ago, this would have been the week in which Toronto’s illustrious and vibrant theatre, dance and opera companies would have collectively launched the 2020-21 season. And what a season it would have been: hundreds of plays, musicals, dances and operas playing to millions of audience members.

The Ed Mirvish Theatre may be Toronto’s most dramatic venue. Although the building, which celebrates its centennial this year, has spent most of its life as a cinema, it has had more drama and conflict offstage than many theatres have had onstage.
“Come From Away” is the most successful show in Canadian-made musical theatre history. Three years into its run in Toronto, it was still packing houses.
